We grew up with the standards of the past but they just seem to be impossibly high and not always a feasible reality. They criticize us for being lazy, shallow and spending too much time on the internet but many of us mean well. We want to become decent hard working people that can acquire a job out of college and sustain a comfortable living. Such a simple thing is becoming harder for many of us. Jobs are scarce, when you do get one it barely pays anything, and everyone else just seems to be interning for free. The college degree is the new high school diploma. It’s all about grad school now.

We are shamed for moving back home with our parents, that we would rather free load than be independent. believe me, we sure as hell want to get out on our own. We’ve tasted freedom in college and it was pretty damn sweet. Why would we ever want to move back? Housing is damn expensive that’s why. Jobs don’t pay enough and rent is through the roof! It’s actually quite normal in other countries for children to return to their parents

We worry what our future holds. All this talk about economic uncertainty leaves us feeling lost. The government can’t seem to be trusted when we’ve got politicians appealing to the old and more importantly to “old money” i.e. corporations. I’m kind of sick of all the competition. In capitalism, competition is what leads to innovation but currently it just seems to bring out the worst. When the philosophy is profit driven then people are sacrificed. 

What to do? What to do? Get it together man. we’ve got this. we need to trust in ourselves. We can’t let the dissillusion get to us too much. We need to trust in each other. We’re entering this rapidly changing world together.

I’ll be more optimistic tomorrow. I just need to sleep this off
